Is this the same ship we have listed as the:  Harrinck (Herring) -Sailed from the Texel shortly after September 21, 1637  - Arrived at New Amsterdam, March 28, 1638??    I have assumed so for now.  TD. 

Van Cortlandt, Oloff Stephenszen (c. 1610-1684), JACOB LEISLER’s wife’s uncle, brewer and merchant; born Wijck bij Duurstede, a small town near Utrecht, son of Steven Cornelissen van Cortlandt and Fijchgen Oloffs; arrived in New Amsterdam aboard West India Company’s man-of-war, the Haring, in March 1637/38 as a West India Company soldier;  promoted to inspector of tobacco, 1639; appointed Commissary of Cargoes, July 1, 1640; public storekeeper 1643-1648; married Anneke Loockermans (1618-1684), sister of Govert Loockermans [q.v.], Dutch Reformed Church, New Amsterdam, Feb. 26, 1642; closely associated with Loockermans in business and public affairs; elected to the Board of Eight men, 1645; commissioner on Indian affairs, 1645; elder and deacon of the Dutch Church, 1646 and 1670; guardian of Cornelis Dircksz [q.v.], 1648;  Board of Nine Men, 1649; presiding officer of Nine Men, 1650; made New Amsterdam Great Burgher, April 1657; orphan master, 1653, 1657 and 1660-1661;  administrator of monies raised from the merchants, 1654; commissioner to superintend the fortifying of New Amsterdam, 1654; New Amsterdam schepen, 1654, 1674; Burgomaster, 1655-1656, 1658-1659, 1662-1663, and 1665; city treasurer, 1659-1661, 1664; accompanied the Director General Stuyvesant on a mission to Esopus, 1660; commissioner to Hartford to settle the boundary with Connecticut, 1663;  commissioner to arrange surrender terms with the English,  Sept. 5, 1664; New York City alderman, 1665-1667, 1670; deputy mayor, 1667; mayor, 1673; tax commissioner, 1674; estate valued at 45,000 guilders, 1674; died New York City, Apr. 5, 1684.
