Charles Bridges ( b. ?, d. Aug,1682) a native of Canterbury, married, in Nov 1647, Sarah, the daughter of Thomas Cornell, of Cornell's Neck, Westchester. She was the widow of Thomas Willet, a soldier of the DWIC. She had married Thomas Willett in 1643.
In 1639 Bridges came to New Amsterdam from the West Indies, and returned there to become commisary at Curacao under Stuyvesant. Stuyvesant brought him back to New Amsterdam when he became Director in 1647 and Bridges became commissary at Fort Orange in Nov 1647, the same month he married Sarah Cornell.
