Entity Description: Tribe - Hackensack

Description

Representatives of the Hackensack (possibly part of the Lenape Peoples)  were involved in a number of Indian Deeds over the course of several decades.    In particular, the deed for Staten Island, which is quite some distance from Hackensack as we know it today.   The documents clearly help us to understand that there was a great deal of mobility for the Native Americans throughout  New Netherland, as Hackensack representatives appear in meetings in a number of locations.
