Wessell Evertsen (b.?? - d. April, 1671) married Geertie Bowkens, from Naerden, Mar. 15, 1643… He's said to have come over in the service of the Dutch West India Company, and to have commanded the DWIC yacht, "St. Martin". Evertsen seems to have made a living as a captain of a sloop, sometimes fishing, sometimes carrying freight to points on Long Island and other nearby places.
