New Amsterdam, especially as shown in the Castello Plan, remains fascinating to scholars. The De Sille List, a census of the settlement in 1660, created an opportunity for the study of the people residing there at that time. This urban landscape, created in the image of cities in the Netherlands, eventually became the City of New York.
