The area of land that is currently known as Connecticut was regularly involved in correspondence and trade with New Amsterdam and New Netherland. Native Americans from the Connecticut River area traded with both English and Dutch traders. The English governor of Connecticut had regular communications with leaders in New Amsterdam and New Netherland.
