This charming yellow toy sauce pan—made for a left-handed person—is one of the rare surviving pieces of children kitchen ware dating back to the 17th century. Today, some of these delicate pieces survive in museum collections, showing both the charm of childhood play and the cultural importance placed on preparing girls for domestic duties, whether in Amsterdam or New Amsterdam.
