Description
Bed warming pans were filled with warm coals from the hearth and used to warm the cold bedding before someone got into bed. This was really nice for young children as they were more affected by the cold. The image you see is of a Dutch open-worked brass bed warming pan, 17th century. This one is particularly decorative, and but simple pans were also common.
