In council, present the honorable director-general, Petrus Stuyvesant, and the honorable councillors, Nicasius de Sille, La Montagne and C. van Werckhoven; a petition submitted by Pieter Le Feber, recorded in the copybook of petitions[1] on page [ left blank ], after discussion it has been acted upon as follows:According to the general order, no brewer, merchant, grocer or distiller is allowed to serve customers either wine or beer by the small measure; however, if the spirits are of such value and quality as the petitioner has stated, he will be allowed to serve it at reasonable and tolerable prices in small and large bottles to all citizens who desire to obtain it at his house. 24 November 1653.
