[ ] to be given a punishment. [ ] replies that it shall never be proven [ ] Andries Hudde having arrived from the South and [ ] home by virtue of a commission, put in a half barrel beer for himself, and in order to treat some friends with it upon his return, [ and ] that he, defendant, had lost a barrel to a certain person through gambling, and because he was out of beer, he borrowed as much from the aforesaid Andries Hudde in order to repay him the same with beer.

The honorable lords high councilors having heard the parties, understand that the defendant shall be excused this time, on the condition that he give a discretionary amount to the poor, and at once forbid him to lay in beer or wine either directly or indirectly except with a permit from the farmer of the excise.

Thus done at the session of the honorable high councilors held in Amsterdam in New Netherland. Ady ut supra.
