I, the undersigned, Arunt van Curler, hereby acknowledge that I am indebted to Jan Jansen Damen, or bearer, on account of the ship ’t Wapen van Renselaerswyck [1] in the sum of one hundred and fifty-nine guilders for one fat ox and one fat hog delivered for the use of the above mentioned ship; which aforesaid sum of one hundred and fifty-nine guilders I, Arent van Curlaer, request the owners of the said ship to be pleased to pay to Jan Damen or his order. Done the 19th of October anno 1644, in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland.
