Description
Described as a herring buss by the New Netherlands Voyages Database, 110 Tons.
Generally a 2 mast sailing vessel approximately 65 feet in length, and 60 - 100 tons, they often travelled in fleets, sometimes with a heavier naval war ship as an escort to prevent seizure by pirates or other countries. The Dutch sometimes sent out fleets of 400-500 ships for fishing.
So these smaller ships that were also utilized for travel to the New World without escort would have been taking a very big risk to arrive in New Netherland.
