New Amsterdam residents wore a number of different types of shoes. All shoes were handmade at the time, and shoemakers were an important part of the community.
Leather shoes and leather boots were worn by the settlers and enslaved people.
Moccasins, boot moccasins, and snowshoes were worn by the Native Americans.
