The foregoing petition, having been received at the session, has, after due deliberation, been decided as follows: the ground that the petitioner has sheathed with the foreknowledge and consent of the director general and councilors on the other side of the public road, is hereby conveyed to him in full ownership on the condition that the director general and councilors reserve for the commonalty (whenever the need demands such) at an appropriate time to be able to construct or have constructed a wall or breastwork on the side of the sheathing for the increased security of this city. Thus done, conveyed, and granted at the session held in Fort Amsterdam in N. Netherland, the 21st of December anno 1656.
