Noble, Honorable Lord:

When I arrived in New Amstel today for the funeral of Mr. Willemsz, I found that Peter Lourens had not departed because of the extremely bad weather.

Furthermore, this will also serve to inform you that I have been forced to ask Mr. Huygen for commodities worth f300, beaver-value, because I had to receive and pay for the two cows and the pigs, which I had bought, as the cows become lean here and are stabled during the cold months.

Whereby I commend you to God's protection, remaining forever.
