In the year after the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 1654, the 14th of December, before me, Cornelis van Ruyven, appointed secretary in New Netherland for the General Chartered West India Company, appeared the Hon. Johan de La Montagne, councilor of New Netherland, and the Hon. Cornelis van Thienhoven, councilor and fiscal of New Netherland, who certified and declared, as they do hereby certify and declare, that it is true and truthful that on this day, the 14th of December 1654, they have seen Mr. Nicasius de Sille, now first political and military councilor of New Netherland, son of the honorable Dr. Laurens de Sille, former advocate fiscal of the High and Mighty lords the States General of the United Netherlands, being well disposed and, God be praised, in good health and quite fit; which they have confirmed with their signatures. Thus done in Fort Amsterdam in New Netherland, the year and day above written.[1]
